# Cancel subscriptions

## **Cancelling a subscription as a customer**

Customers can cancel their subscription at any time through the Veriam App > [Manage my organization](https://customer.myveriam.com)

**To cancel a subscription:**

1. On the Veriam App click to [Manage my organization](https://customer.myveriam.com)
2. Go to Subscriptions and select the subscription to cancel.
3. Choose one of the available cancellation options:
   * Use the row action menu to select *Cancel*.
   * Alternatively, open the subscription details page and select *Cancel*.
4. Confirm the cancellation.

Once confirmed, the customer will receive an **email confirmation** of the cancellation.

## **Effective date & billing after cancellation**

The effective cancellation date and billing impact depend on the subscription’s pricing model:

* **Free plans:**
  * The subscription is cancelled immediately.
  * No additional charges apply.
* **One-time cost plans:**
  * The subscription is cancelled immediately.
  * No additional charges apply.
* **Flat-fee plans:**
  * Payments are made in advance.
  * The subscription is updated to "non-renewing" status.
  * The subscription remains active until the end of the billing cycle.
  * At the end of the cycle, it automatically cancels, and access is revoked.
  * No additional charges apply.
* **Per-user recurring plans:**
  * Payments are made in arrears (after usage).
  * The subscription is cancelled immediately.
  * The customer’s card on file is charged immediately for the outstanding usage in the current billing cycle (prorated).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.myveriam.com/for-customers/manage-your-subscriptions/cancel-subscriptions.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
