Publication of configuration
What is publishing of configuration?
Publishing of configuration is done to make configuration available to your customer. Without publishing your configuration in the Veriam Admin Portal, it will not be available to use for your customers. This is needed for the configuration only, using published configuration (eg assigning policies, roles or subscriptions) does not require publishing before it becomes active.
You can reference to unpublished configuration items when creating or editing configuration.
Currently, when configuration is published, all saved configuration is published. It is not possible to only publish a selection of created or changed configuration.
Why and when would I want to use this?
The main benefit of controlling when your configuration is published, is for controlled releases. It provides you with the possibility to prepare new or changed configuration across different items, without it immediately affecting your current (or new) customers.
For instance, when introducing a new type of subscription, you can prepare all the required elements (Plan, pricing, terms & conditions, access control, etc), and only make it available to customer on the moment you are actually going live with your new product or service. It makes it easier to align updating your systems with your marketing efforts around launching changes.
Automatic publishing
To ensure the system behaves as most people would expect, we automatically publish the configuration as soon as you click Save, ensuring your latest changes are always active and available to customer.
It is possible to toggle the automatic publishing behavior from the publication banner, that shows up when there are unpublished changes, as well as when publication is in progress.
Switching automatic publishing on means that on clicking Save (when creating or editing configuration), it will automatically be published.
Switching automatic publishing off means that a manual publish action is required to publish the changes. This means that after clicking Save (when creating or editing configuration), it will not immediately become available to use for you or your customers.
Note that this setting applies to all configuration within your organization, so also for other (Admin) users within your organization.
